Lottery scandal: Bajrami will be released from detention

The former director of the State Lottery Perparim Bajrami will be released from detention after the Criminal Council of the Skopje court accepted a guarantee in the form of real estate valued at over 1,1 million EUR. The decision follows a request by the defense to replace the detention measure with a guarantee in the “Lottery” case.

The Court stated that, in addition to the accepted guarantee, additional precautionary measures have been imposed on the defendant. His travel document will be confiscated, he is prohibited from obtaining a new document for crossing the state border, and he is required to report to the Court on a regular basis. The public prosecutor and the other parties to the proceedings have waived their right to appeal the ruling; consequently, the decision became final today.

Bajrami recently returned from his flight in Kosovo, as did his political mentor, former Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi. Grubi was also allowed into house arrest and then was released by the court even from the house arrest.
