On Monday, the Committee on Financing and Budget unanimously voted to hold an oversight hearing regarding the developments involving Alta Bank. This decision was reached by consensus—unanimously—with our request that the oversight hearing take place as soon as possible. Today, a coordination meeting of the parliamentary groups was convened. We requested that the oversight hearing be held tomorrow. However, we observed some hesitation on the part of SDSM regarding whether this should proceed, according to a statement issued by the VMRO-DPMNE Parliamentary Group, citing remarks made to the media by MP Bojan Stojanoski.
To this end, we proposed streamlining all applicable procedures outlined in the Rules of Procedure, which would allow us to extend invitations to guests within the current workday and provide answers to the various open questions surrounding this issue.
As of now, we have not received a response to our request. Therefore, exercising the options provided by the Rules of Procedure—specifically under Article 126, Paragraph 2 of the Assembly’s Rules of Procedure—we have collected signatures from one-third of the members and deputy members of the Committee on Financing and Budget and submitted them to the Committee Chair, Sanja Lukarevska. We are requesting that she schedule the oversight hearing for tomorrow at 11:00 AM, as we believe this important issue requires immediate answers. The goal is neither to politicize this topic nor to maintain the status quo.
Therefore, if their intentions are sincere and genuine—and considering they have had ample time since Monday to take the necessary actions stipulated by the Rules of Procedure (given that they lead the Committee, which is responsible for holding such oversight hearings)—there is no reason for any further delay.
