Nikoloski discussed Macedonia’s strategic corridors with US Admiral Wikoff

A delegation from NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples (JFCNP), led by Commander Admiral George M. Wikoff, was on a two-day visit to Macedonia.

Aleksandar Nikoloski, Deputy Prime Minister and Transportation Minister, announced on his Facebook account that he held a meeting with Admiral Wikoff, alongside the Army Chief of Staff Major General Sashko Lafciski. In the post, Nikoloski added:

The meetings addressed the current security situation in the region, the achievement of NATO capability targets, opportunities for conducting exercises on Macedonian territory, as well as enhancing interoperability and further strengthening cooperation within the Alliance. Additionally, Admiral Wykoff was briefed on the opportunities offered by our country—a regional state serving as a geographic crossroads for multiple transport corridors—and the Army’s vital role in ensuring the Alliance’s mobility, speed, initiative, resilience, and strategic depth, said Nikoloski.

During the visit, Admiral Wykoff highlighted our country’s commitment as an active contributor to maintaining regional stability and security, emphasizing the professionalism and contribution of the Macedonian Army to NATO-led activities. The meetings also reaffirmed the importance of a joint and coordinated approach within the Alliance to address modern security challenges, Nikoloski added.
