A warehouse filled with various medicines, pharmaceutical products, and supplements, as well as an oil extraction machine, are just some of the items discovered during one of today’s searches as part of a major police operation being conducted across Macedonia.
This is a police operation aimed at dismantling a criminal group involved in the smuggling of goods and the commission of corruption-related offenses; it has been underway since this morning under the direction of a public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption. The operation is being conducted by the Ministry of Interior’s Department for the Suppression of Organized Crime.
According to unofficial information from “Republika,” the operation is being conducted in the areas of Skopje (specifically the Čair district), Tetovo, and Gevgelija. Six individuals have been arrested, and a search is underway for several others. We have learned that the group includes employees of the Customs Administration.
The operation is being carried out due to suspicions of smuggling, infringement of industrial property rights, bribery (both giving and receiving), and money laundering.
