Customs Bureau official detained for taking a bribe

An assistant director of a department of the Customs Bureau has been detained on suspicion of soliciting a bribe in exchange for using his actual influence to assist in two proceedings before the bureau, the Public Prosecutor’s Office announced.

Under the direction of a public prosecutor from the organized crime unit, police officers detained the assistant director of the Customs Bureau. He had on him marked bills totaling 17,500 EUR. According to preliminary findings, the money was solicited as a bribe in exchange for him using his influence to allegedly assist in two proceedings before the Customs Bureau, the Public Prosecutor’s Office stated.
