Possible temporary interruptions and restrictions on banking services may occur over the upcoming weekend. The Macedonian Banking Association has announced that, on November 7 and 8, all banks will be carrying out technical adjustments to their systems to implement new standards for domestic (denar) payment transactions, which take effect on Monday, November 9.
These restrictions will primarily affect payment transactions; however, each bank will individually communicate specific timeframes, the services affected, and the expected duration of any interruptions. The Association advises citizens and companies to plan their payments in advance and to monitor notifications from their respective banks to avoid any potential issues over the weekend. Starting Monday, new payment order forms, new codes for payment purposes, and the use of payment accounts in IBAN format will come into effect. Existing account numbers will remain unchanged, and banks will automatically adjust their display to the new format within electronic and mobile banking systems.
