“I held a meeting in New York with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Jansa. We discussed Macedonia’s European perspective, the deepening of political and economic cooperation between our two countries, as well as current geopolitical and security challenges in Europe and the region,” wrote Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski on his Facebook profile.
Macedonia remains firmly committed to its European future and to reforms that bring a better life for its citizens. Our position is clear: European integration must be based on merit, fulfilled criteria, and tangible results, rather than on new bilateral conditions that have no substantive connection to European values. We seek neither privileges nor a shortcut. We seek a fair and predictable process in which achievements are valued and Macedonia is respected as a state and a partner, stated Prime Minister Mickoski in his post.
He emphasized that Slovenia is a long-standing friend and a key partner within the European Union and NATO. It is in our mutual interest to transform this friendship into even stronger economic cooperation, increased investment, and concrete projects that will create new opportunities for citizens and the business sector. Macedonia will not stand still as it advances along its European path. We will continue to develop the economy, implement reforms, strengthen our international partnerships, and defend Macedonia’s national interests with dignity.
