
Initial results shared by VMRO-DPMNE, after the local elections, show that the party won in a number of cities in the first round of the elections. According to sources in VMRO, the party won a major victory even in Strumica, that is considered a stronghold for SDSM, but where the leftist party had a large split ahead of the elections.
In other cities, such as Ohrid, Stip, Radovis, Resen and Sveti Nikole, the VMRO candidates are projected to win the mayoral seats in the first round. In the capital Skopje, VMRO candidates are already projected to win in Gazi Baba, Butel and Gjorce Petrov, with early results showing them dominating SDSM 3:1 in some polling stations.
In Bitola, out of the nearly 6,000 votes counted, the VMRO candidate leads SDSM 2:1, and similar margins are seen in Gevgelija as well.
