There are currently no plans to reinstate mandatory military service in Macedonia

“We are not considering it at the moment because no such initiative has been submitted. The Army and all professional services related to this issue are always ready if necessary,” says Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski, answering a reporter’s question about the possible reinstatment of mandatory military service in Macedonia.

According to Misajlovski, it is nice if a young person spends a certain period in the Army and even now that opportunity is allowed on a voluntary basis.

If there are initiatives and reasons, we would consider it through debate, the minister underlined.
