A misdemeanor case was initiated against Mendi Qyra, the newly elected Mayor of Struga, for not displaying the state flag during the Albanian flag holiday last week.
Struga, along with other towns and cities across Macedonia with a significant Albanian population, marked the day with Albanian national flags. According to Struga police, Mayor Qyra violated the law when he did not have the Macedonian state flag raised during the celebration.
