Vlatko Grozdanov, candidate of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party, is projected to win the mayoral race in Kocani, against independent candidate Venko Krstevski, who was supported by SDSM.
In the city that is still reeling from the disastrous Pulse nightclub fire, the election campaign was generally muted. Grozdanov is seen leading with over 7,300 votes against Krstevski, who is just below 6,000 votes.
