In an effort to find hostages being held by Hamas, Britain has announced that it will start conducting surveillance flights over Israel and the Gaza Strip.The surveillance aircraft “will be unarmed, have no combat role and will have the sole task of locating the hostages,” according to the British Ministry of Defense, as reported by Sky News.”Working with partners from across the region to free the hostages, including British nationals, who were abducted” in the October 7 Hamas raid was the UK government’s stated goal, according to the Ministry of Defense. After the attack on October 7, the British military despatched RAF planes and Royal Navy ships to the eastern Mediterranean, where they remain.
