Only 9.2 percent of the citizens believe that Macedonia is heading in the right direction, the Market Vision/MKD.mk poll showed. According to the poll, conducted between December 8th and 15th covering 1,067 citizens, 60.25 percent of the citizens think that the country is heading in the wrong direction.

There is some ethnic distinction here – 66.1 percent of ethnic Macedonians think that the country is going in the wrong direction, while 47.3 percent of Albanians think the same.

When asked to cite the main problems they face, 44.1 percent said it is the poor economy, while 29.9 percent blamed the failures the legal system, the high level of crime and corruption. The poll showed that 87.1 percent of citizens believe that corruption is increasing.

A similar percentage, little over 80%, feel that the prices continue to go up. Additionally, 31.3 percent expect their living standards to get worse.

The poll, which showed very high advantage of VMRO-DPMNE over SDSM, also asked citizens about the planned sale of the Cebren hydro project to the Greek state energy company. 65.7 percent are opposed to this idea, while only 8.55 percent agree with it, and 55.8 percent think that the Macedonian ELEM/ESM energy company is not working responsibly.
