The decline in the number of Covid-19 infections and hospitalizations continues, according to the Institute of Public Health’s weekly report for March 21-27.
Out of 16,074 Covid-19 tests, 1,696 new cases were registered, which is 7.5% less compared to the previous week.
Most of the registered cases are from Skopje (60.8%), and the highest weekly incidence is registered in Kavadarci.
Infected persons in all age groups are registered. The most common are people over 60 years, and the lowest number in the age group from 0-9 years.
In 5 (5.3%) of the examined samples, BA.1 sublime of Omicron was detected. Omicron BA.2 sublime – also known as “stealth” – was detected in 90 (94.7%) of the samples tested.
According to hospital reports, 82 people are currently hospitalized (24.8% less compared to the previous week), of which 33 are receiving oxygen treatment and one is on invasive / non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
