Petar Kolev, leader of the GDU party that represents ethnic Bulgarians in Macedonia, accused the Interior Ministry of initiating a campaign of harassment against those driving cars with Bulgarian license plates.

For days now, hundreds of people who drive cars with Bulgarian license plates report that they are not allowed to enter Macedonia. People who work in Bulgaria, with vehicles registered to their companies in Bulgaria, can’t cross the border. This is harassment of Bulgarians and the Bulgarian citizens in Macedonia. What kind of a thinking is this? Remember that all countries allowed refugees from Ukraine to cross their borders without issue, only here they were asked to purchase vehicle insurance, Kolev said.

He accused Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski of harboring hatred toward Bulgaria and having pro-Serbian tendencies. “I ask the progressive part of the Government to muster strength and clear up these dark forces in their ranks. We will not bear them any longer”.
