The report presents a grim outlook on advancements in the Foundations cluster areas. The progression of events within the Judicial Council, political manipulation in judicial appointments, and the misuse of expedited procedures for enacting laws raise significant alarm. The government acknowledges the Commission’s profound concern regarding the amendments to the Criminal Code and their extensive implications for ongoing corruption cases. In the immediate future, Macedonia will need to demonstrate political determination in tackling high-level corruption and combatting organized crime.
