The leaders of the farmers’ protests responded to Dimkov that the government had promised that the rice hulls would be bought for 25 denars and the white rice for 60 denars, but after only three years, only promises remained.

Following Monday’s press conference by Agriculture Minister Trajan Dimkov that the subsidies have been paid and the demands of farmers who protested in front of the government building on Saturday, rice producers responded.

Rice producer Dragoljub Gavrilov says the rice subsidies should have been paid by May, as they are calculated in fiscal year 2018 but were paid after 6 months in late October.
