The Judicial Council voted eight times in support of holding a public meeting to discuss a move about Supreme Court President Besa Ademi’s disciplinary responsibility. The meeting is set for this Friday.
Judge Ademi has requested that the session be public, meaning that the media be present, despite the fact that disciplinary processes against judges are confidential and not public under the Law on the Judicial Council.
Ademi stated in an interview with SDK.mk that the Supreme Court is subject to political pressure and threats of firing judges, which prompted the move to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the President of the Supreme Court.
