Orthodox Christians in Macedonia mark Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the followers of Jesus, this Sunday.
The religious holiday and the preceding days are aside to remember the dead, in the procession known as Zadusnica. Families visit the graves of their loved ones, to pray for their souls. According to tradition, wheat and bread sanctified with red wine is left as offering. Candles are lit in memory of the deceased.
