Criminal law professor Gordan Kalajdziev said Tuesday on TV Alfa that reforms should be carried out by professionals, not by the executive.
We do not know where the SPO solution came from, no one said who was the author, and we got it from a working group that worked on the strategy. The whole thing run fast. Therefore, that approach should be abandoned. Politicians and foreigners want fast results, in particular the strategy was done by the end of the summer in ten days, and in the end little of it was implemented and ended with minor changes. We have carried out substantial reforms before and we had to analyze why we still have problems with those reforms. An important part of the reform was for the prosecution to gain independence through its own investigative centers. The prosecution must be released from investigative authorities and the police, Kalajdziev said.
The professor said that “Racket” has damaged the idea of rule of law like nothing before. “They messed up with the selection of Katica from day one and I’m sorry this story ended like this. People are thrown into apathy and hopelessness”, Kalajdziev concluded.
