Skopje Clinic treats its first malaria patient in two decades, two year old child is recovering well

A two year old was hospitalized in the Skopje Infectious Diseases Clinic with malaria last week. The child contracted the disease while staying in Kenya.

The hospital made the revelation today, and informed that the child is recovering well.

We examined its movement in the past period, and we will follow its condition in the next year to two years, including with regular check-ups, said doctor Biljana Danilovska.

Once rampant in the Balkans, the disease has been erradicated here and this is believed to be the first case of malaria in Macedonia in the past two decades.
