A number of social media users responded to an election day tweet by the US Embassy in Macedonia, which contained pictures American election day observers snapped across the country.

One of photos contained a large herd of sheep, which was not taken lightly by Macedonian voters.

Respected US Embassy Skopje could you please explain to us the symbolism in the photography that you posted on your official twitter account on the day of the presidential election?, asked former Culture Minister Ganka Samoilova Cvetanova, sharing the photograph with the sheep, while many other Twitter users joined in the criticism of what was perceived as an oblique statement on the elections.
