Under the slogan “The Finger in Haste Makes Fake News Spread,” the national Media Literacy Network is hosting a series of events for Media Literacy Days from October 23 to 31.
This year’s theme for Media Literacy Days, as well as the subject of the opening conference on Tuesday, is “Media Literacy in Digital Spaces.” The event is organized by the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services, in collaboration with the Metamorphosis Foundation, Macedonian Institute for Media, and the International Research and Exchanges Board, as part of the USAID media literacy project “Youthink.”
Throughout this period, a range of in-person and online events will take place, including panel discussions, debates, workshops, a multimedia exhibition, and a documentary screening. These activities also coincide with UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy Week.
The Media Information Agency, a member of the Media Literacy Network, will host a panel on the role of the academic community in promoting media literacy in Bitola on October 27.
Additional events encompass a public session of the Council of Media Ethics of Macedonia, an open media day by Radio MOF, a workshop by the Presidential Center for Political Education on community resilience to disinformation, and a panel on media literacy progress and reporters’ safety organized by the Association of Journalists of Macedonia.
This marks the fifth occasion that Media Literacy Days have been organized in Macedonia, concluding with an annual meeting of Media Literacy Network members on October 31.
