As infrastructure development in Macedonia ground to a half with Zaev take-over of power in 2017, the Prime Minister is reduced to visiting neighboring countries as they open they capital infrastructure projects.
Ten days ago Zaev was in Serbia to witness the opening of the challenging stretch of highway through the Grdelica gorge, that completes the link between Belgrade and Skopje into a full highway.
And today, Zaev goes to Kosovo, to attend the opening of the highway connecting their capital Pristina to the Blace border crossing with Macedonia. Under pressure from his Albanian coalition partners, Zaev is pushed to upgrade the short link between the Skopje ring-road and Blace into a highway, even as one nearly finished highway (Skopje – Stip) and another half finished (Kicevo – Ohrid) are stuck as his Government is unable to push ahead.
Kosovo named its new highway Arben Xhaferi, after the late Albanian political leader from Macedonia.
