DS party leader Pavle Trajanov will join VMRO-DPMNE in not voting for the interim Government that is supposed to organize the elections, but agrees with the key opposition party that VMRO should have its representatives in the Government. VMRO will nominate candidates next week, but refuses to vote for the Government, given the extreme corruption allegations against the DUI party, which will nominate the interim Prime Minister.
According to the law on the Government, VMRO-DPMNE should participate in the interim Government. It is up to the majority in Parliament to elect the interim Government and the interim Prime Minister. They agreed to nominate Talat Xhaferi as Prime Minister, despite the numerous disagreements over it. So it is up to the majority in Parliament to reach the number of 61 votes, Trajanov said.
Outgoing Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski said that VMRO should leave its seats in the Government vacant if they don’t want to vote for Xhaferi. IT would be another attempt by SDSM to manipulate the law – in 2020 they promptly removed the VMRO nominated Labour and Welfare Minister Rasela Mizrahi from the interim Government. The Government is meant to ensure that the ruling parties do not abuse the police, welfare payments and the administration in the run up to the elections.
