VMRO-DPMNE began the process to choose its candidate at the upcoming presidential elections. The party will hold a convention at which the 550 delegates of the Central Committee will elect from a list of prospective candidates.

– The citizens are motivated and anxious to defeat the members of the junta which only care about their own interests. VMRO-DPMNE will defeat this criminal Government and our victory at the presidential elections will begin the end of the darkness that has fallen on our country, said spokesman Dimitar Arsovski.

The presidential election is expected in April, after President Gjorge Ivanov’s second term in office expires and it will likely influence the implementation of the Zaev – Tsipras treaty to rename Macedonia into North Macedonia. In the ruling SDSM – DUI coalition there is still no clear candidate, after Prime Minister Zoran Zaev announced that he will not run.
