VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski met with Paul McCarthy, head of the International Republican Institute’s European desk, and discussed future cooperation between the large American conservative institution and Macedonia’s main opposition party.
We discussed the current political situation, the challenges and the reforms. I emphasized that the Government is running late with the necessary reforms and does not have the capacity to implement them. I also pointed to the lack of democratic capacity in the Government and the abuse of office for personal gain on its part, the omnipresent corruption, nepotism, dubious public contracts and grants, and other illegal activities. The Republic of Macedonia desperately needs less politics in its administration and the judiciary and a higher rate of economic growth, Mickoski said following the meeting.
VMRO-DPMNE representatives also declared their continued support for the EU and NATO integration of Macedonia.
