VMRO-DPMNE spokesman Dimitar Arsovski warned that the true purpose of the law on state prosecutors proposed by Zoran Zaev, in light of the criminal scandal that brought down Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva, is to ensure that her abuse of office and ties with the ruling SDSM party are never properly investigated.
Zoran Zaev’s intentions are not sincere. All they want to accomplish here is to amnesty themselves and to protect the SDSM led Government. We all see how they are trying to amnesty Katica Janeva and all other who are involved. Macedonia needs a reset in order to go forward, Arsovski said.
He called out the still acting Special Prosecutor over her alleged attempt to destroy evidence of work logs on the computers in her SPO office. The SPO issued a non-denial, insisting that Janeva never ordered the erasure of files or evidence, but the report insisted that she wanted to destroy logs of which prosecutor was working at which computer at what time.
This means that there is an attempt of a cover-up. Somebody is trying to dampen the scandal. Katica Janeva can’t remain as a prosecutor, after being involved in a racketeering scandal valued at millions. We demand that a new, reform oriented law is adopted, based on the principles of the rule of law, justice and the Constitution, Arsovski said.
VMRO-DPMNE also demands that top level SDSM party officials, who were reportedly involved in the racketeering, are also investigated, along with Janeva and her handpicked SPO team.
