VMRO-DPMNE President Hristijan Mickoski announced that the opposition party will open the way for early general elections after it wins the coming presidential elections, and will focus on three pillars as it seeks the support of the voters to lead Macedonia again.
VMRO-DPMNE and our coalition For a Better Macedonia is preparing the most complex, and best electoral program so far which will rest on three pillars: improving the quality of life, improving the economy and supporting the Macedonian national dignity, because without Macedonianism there will be no values for the future, Mickoski said.
During the party rally in Kumanovo, the opposition presidential candidate Gordana Siljanovska – Davkova echoed Mickoski’s remarks, and said that it is unacceptable that basic documents and decisions that regard the Macedonian national identity are now being redefined.
There were calls to complete the Macedonian national issue since the 19th century. I believed that the ASNOM assembly in 1944 completed it. I also believed that it is finally completed with the declaration of the independent Macedonian state in 1991. But we are still being told that we are only mid way through in our fight, that we yet have to fight for justice, to have international law respected, to have the Constitution honored, Siljanovska said about the on-going pressures to deny Macedonians their right to self-determination.
Siljanovska strongly condemned the recent move by the Zaev Government to avoid playing the national anthem during the visit by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. The anthem, she said, is a symbol of the Macedonian fight for justice and national identity.
