Every day the coronavirus gaining momentum in Macedonia. Every day new daily records of corona cases are being broken. Proof of that is Saturday’s number of 1,085 people who tested positive for the virus. Out of 3,294 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 33 percent came back positive, which is an extremely high percentage. Maybe the numbers of coronavirus cases would have been just as high earlier as well, had a larger number of tests been carried out, which is what the experts and the opposition have called for. However, despite these calls, the government was conducting a small number of tests and persistently persuaded us that it was successfully dealing with the corona, so that now we have a real explosion of new infections. While the government claims that the situation is under control and that we are dealing well with the corona, Balkan media outlets report on the terrible news and the growing number of new Covid-29 cases and deaths in Macedonia.

The daily record of 1,085 new Covid-19 cases in the country topped 1,000 for the first time since the outbreak began.

Most of the new cases were registered in Skopje-447, Strumica-80 and Kumanovo-69.
