Macedonia and Kosovo are the only two Balkan countries that have not registered a drop in youth unemployment, under the latest World Bank report.
Macedonia saw its youth unemployment increase from 47.1 to 47.6 percent. The report also finds that almost every third young person in Macedonia works in the informal sector.
Statistics show that other countries in the region are doing better.
Youth unemployment decreased in all countries with the exception of Kosovo (up 4.2 percentage points to 54.9 percent and North Macedonia (up 0.5 percentage points to 47.6 percent). Over half of the unemployed youth were long – term unemployed, the report reveals.
