According to Greek radio (ERT), a cargo ship sank near Lesbos, leaving thirteen sailors missing. A rescue helicopter saved one person, but the fate of the rest remains unknown. The ship, Raptor, issued a distress signal before sinking, carrying a cargo of salt. It was en route from Egypt to Istanbul with a crew from Syria, India, and Egypt.

Greek authorities, including a Navy frigate and coast guard boats, conducted a rescue operation amidst severe storms hitting southeastern Europe, with winds reaching force 11 in some areas. Most ferry connections to Greek islands were canceled. The storm is expected to ease near the site of the shipwreck by Sunday.
