The head of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra Mafia, Matteo Messina Denaro, has been arrested, Italian police said on Monday.

The Mafia boss, considered the most sought after criminal in Italy, was detained in Palermo.

Messina Denaro has been a fugitive since 1993.
