Lothar Matthäus, a former Germany and Bayern star, suggests that Thomas Müller’s future at Bayern Munich appears uncertain. Despite being a World Cup winner, the 34-year-old faced exclusion from the starting lineup in favor of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, indicating a potential shift in his role within the team.
Matthäus openly expressed his views, indicating that if Müller seeks consistent playing time as he did in previous seasons, a club change might be necessary. He observes a discrepancy between Bayern’s statements about Müller’s status and his actual playing time on the field.
Although Matthäus acknowledges Müller’s contributions off the bench or in limited playing time, he notes the challenge for Müller to find contentment in this situation.
Müller, who also holds a similar role with the German national team, expressed a desire to continue his career until at least 2025. However, his contract with Bayern ends in June, prompting discussions about his future. Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, emphasized that talks with Müller would occur in the upcoming weeks, highlighting Müller’s importance to the team despite the changing dynamics.
