Despite the optimistic economic promises coming from the Zoran Zaev Government, VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski expects that 2019 will be another lost year for the economy.

Don’t expect an economic boom in 2019. Just listen to what Zaev’s economic projections are based on, and I assure you that growth will be beyond reach. Their only claim to growth in the first quarter comes from the 0 growth they had in the first quarter of 2018, which they now use for comparison. They used all sorts of fuzzy statistics to bring the growth rate to 0.9 percent. An economic boom means 5-5.5 percent, not the below 3 percent rate they are projecting, Mickoski said.

He warned that postponing the early general elections for late 2019, or 2020, beyond the presidential elections scheduled for April and May of 2019, would cause further uncertainty in the economy. This just another reason, Mickoski said, why the early general elections should be moved forward, at the same time with the presidential elections.
