Outgoing European Commission chief Jean Claude Juncker was asked about the Macedonain name deal between Zaev and Tsipras today, and he urged the two countries to complete it in the agreed timeline.

It is rarely that someone carries such responsibility before history and I woud like this process to be concluded successfully, and in the agreed timeline. I can only encourage the two countries and the two Parliaments to do what history demands them to do, said Juncker at a press conference with the Romanian President.

Yesterday, his most likely successor at the position Manfred Weber, denied a media report that he supports the name deal. Weber said that he stands by his Greek EPP party colleague Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who opposes the deal.
