SDSM’s Executive Board officially endorsed Jovan Mitreski as caretaker Parliament Speaker and greenlit party leader Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachevski to engage in discussions with parliamentary parties regarding a caretaker government. Additionally, the party designated SDSM Secretary General Mile Zechevikj Vardarski to lead the Central Election Headquarters.
According to SDSM spokesperson Darko Kaevski, Jovan Mitreski, the coordinator of SDSM’s parliamentary group, boasts extensive parliamentary experience and a commitment to citizens’ and state interests. Kaevski expressed confidence in Mitreski’s capability to serve the citizens effectively.
Kaevski highlighted the Executive Board’s authorization for Kovachevski to initiate talks with parliamentary parties as a legal obligation, emphasizing SDSM’s readiness for success in upcoming elections, aiming for victories in the presidential race and the formation of a pro-European government.
Moreover, SDSM’s Executive Board entrusted Secretary General Zechevikj with outlining the schedule and criteria for selecting a presidential candidate in line with the party’s statute. These decisions are anticipated to be ratified during a forthcoming session of the Central Board by month-end.
In anticipation of the session, Prime Minister and SDSM leader Dimitar Kovachevski addressed the media, emphasizing the legal obligation for a caretaker government despite the opposition’s indecision regarding participation in Talat Xhaferi’s caretaker government before the upcoming elections on January 28.
