1TV, the television station set up by Bojan Jovanovski – Boki 13, stopped broadcasting today. The station continued to broadcast some news and pre-recorded programs a month and a half after Boki’s arrest on racketeering charges.
If the television doesn’t resume broadcasting within 30 days, it will lose its permit.
Boki 13 set up the television a year after SDSM took over the Government, and moved to hire a long list of pro-Government journalists, many of them known as very expensive. The television combined live reports and evening political debates, strongly favoring the SDSM party and Zaev’s Government with raunchy entertainment segments. The day he was arrested, his editors quickly turned their backs on Boki.
According to widespread media reports, one of the ways in which Boki 13 was extorting money from businessmen was to pressure them to purchase hugely overpriced ad campaigns on 1TV.
