The vehicle of an opposition VMRO-DPMNE party activist from Skopje’s central Karpos area was torched yesterday evening. The opposition party condemned the attack and sees it as intimidation in the run up to the presidential elections.

The electoral process still hasn’t begun and you see what is happening. We believe that the criminal perpetrators are acting in coordination with the Government and this incident is a clear message of intimidation, said Toni Jarevski, head of the VMRO-DPMNE branch in Karpos.

Jarevski added that crime is spiraling out of control in Karpos, as well as across the capital, and that there were 750 robberies and assaults in the first three quarters of 2018 in this normally calm part of the city.
