Jane Cento, heir to the Cento family name and political prisoner of the Zaev Government, called on the Macedonians not to give up after the vote to rename the country.

No man is defeated while he still has courage. No country either. The people make the country and we are the people. The struggle for a Macedonian state never stopped. No giving up now. Don’t get discouraged. Long live the Republic of Macedonia, Cento wrote on his page, adding a modified version of the call under which his great-grandfather Metodija Andonov Cento led the Macedonian units in World War Two – “Death to fascism – free our Freedom”.

Cento has been kept in prison for over a year, charged with “terrorism”, and he refused the offer of amnesty from the Zaev Government.
