Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov pleaded for understanding from Bulgaria to resolve the historic issues which are being opened with the implementation of the treaty he signed in 2017. The Minister was asked about the threat that Bulgaria blocks Macedonia’s EU accession talks because of the growing dispute over the national identity of Goce Delcev.

I’m certain that we share major goals with Bulgaria. We signed the friendship treaty as neighbors and it touches many issues which are delicate and emotional for both sides. I’m convinced that we will find a way not to endanger these goals and to focus on mutual respect and friendship, Dimitrov said.
