EU Ambassador to Macedonia David Geer warned against growing political polarization in the country and called on the ruling majority to reduce its overuse of the fast track procedure in Parliament to pass legislation that is not linked to the EU integration.
Regarding the latest disappointment – the visit by EU’s top diplomat Josep Borrell who told Macedonia it must reach agreement with Bulgaria before it can open its EU accession talks, Geer said that there are some positive movements in the talks between the two countries. The ambassador urged Macedonia to keep momentum in contacts and talks with Bulgaria in hope to overcome its opposition to Macedonia’s accession talks.
