Former VMRO-DPMNE President Nikola Gruevski accused businessman Jordan Orce Kamcev of making an arrangement with the Zaev – Kovacevski regime. Last week Kamcev testified that he indeed worked with Gruevski to help the then Prime Minister secretly purchase land in Skopje.
Kamcev was, of course, subject of several criminal charges by the regime, and was extorted by former Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva. His revelations of the extortion brought down Janeva and seriously threatened Zaev himself, but in the end this only served to anger the regime and Kamcev was detained for almost a year. According to Gruevski, his testimony is his way of protecting himself from further arrests.
I don’t mind if Kamcev gives apartments worth millions, if he hands over his hospital or his bank to buy his freedom, but I ask him not to involve me in a matter where I was not involved. I ask him not to support false constructions that the Government is putting together for the purpose of my political persecution, Gruevski said.
Besides Kamcev, the prosecutors also forced out a testimony from Risto Novacevski, former close friend of Gruevski who was the best man at his wedding. Gruevski’s cousin, and former secret police chief Saso Mijalkov also testified today, and he denied all allegations against Gruevski.
The Government intends to seize money from Kamcev, which he had invested in a real-estate deal, and portray them as allegedly coming from me. With this, they would score political points, that they are allegedly seizing money from their corrupt political opponents, Gruevski said.
