Hungary also confirmed the Swedish Supreme Court’s ruling that the storming of Parliament on April 27 is not terrorism and that the suspects in this case are in fact victims of political persecution. The country will not extradite former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski for the events of April 27, the Ministry of Justice confirmed.

We have been notified that the Supreme Regional Court had reached a final decision that the legal conditions for the extradition of Nikola Gruevski had not been met, as he had been granted asylum in Hungary at his request. In accordance with Act no. 38 for international legal assistance in criminal cases, a person who has been granted asylum will not be extradited to the country from which they escaped, the Justice Ministry said.

Hungary rejected to extradite Gruevsk following a request to serve two-year prison sentence in SPO;s ‘Tank’ case in which he was convicted of unlawful influence on the purchase of a Mercedes vehicle.
