The Macedonian Foreign Affairs Ministry responded to the press release by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which condemned the way in which the Governments of Macedonia and Greece are pushing the Prespa agreement against the wishes of the public in both countries, and without involving the United Nations.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry is assured that our approach will be proven as right. We prefer to show political vision and leadership, and to advance regional stability and prosperity, which will be accepted and appreciated by all sides, including the Russian Federation, said the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

In the press release from the Russian Ministry, it was noted that both countries are adopting the agreement under external pressure and against the wishes of the majority of the citizens. Russia called for a meeting of the UN Security Council, where the name issue was long debated, but which is now left out of the talks.

Greece also condemned the Russian statement.
