NATO will use the term ‘Macedonian language’ once the procedures related to the Prespa Agreement are completed, MIA reports from Brussels.
After many reactions in the Macedonian public because on Wednesday, for the first time, during the signing ceremony of the NATO accession protocol, the Alliance did not use the term “Macedonian language” on its website, even though it has always used it so, a high-ranking NATO source told MIA that “NATO will use term ‘Macedonian language’ once the procedures related to the Prespa Agreement are completed.”
Unofficially, this time there was a special pressure by the Greek side not to use the term on the website only on this day, because of the sensitivity of the process of ratification of the NATO protocol for Macedonia, which should be completed on Friday in the Greek Parliament. NATO, they say, does everything not to provoke harsh reactions from any side and not put the process of Macedonia’s membership in the Alliance in jeopardy.
Once the process is completed, NATO will return to the regular practice of using the term Macedonian language, according to the Prespa Agreement and the practice so far, MIA reports.
