Members of Parliament are preparing a proposal to give themselves the right to retire at 53/55 years and to be guaranteed jobs in the public sector in case they lose their seats.

According to Sitel TV, the proposal is being prepared by the group of eight members of Parliament who left VMRO-DPMNE and support the name change, in cooperation with the ruling SDSM and DUI. The ex-VMRO-DPMNE group in particular are unlikely to return to Parliament and allegedly raised this benefits package during talks over the wider reform process proposed to prepare the country for European Union accession.

VMRO-DPMNE is not part of these talks. A similar law was adopted in the previous SDSM led term in 2005, but it was struck down by the Constitutional Court.
