Police is conducting a search in the home of Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva, Kanal 5 TV reported this evening. The shocking turn of events comes on a day when Janeva offered her resignation, shortly after Bojan Jovanovski – Boki 13 was arrested on charges that he extorted money from a businessman on behalf of Janeva.

TV21 reports that the police seized Janeva’s phone in the process of the search, while Boki 13 and an accomplice are being interrogated in the Skopje courthouse.

Janeva was close to Boki 13, and her son Lazar Janev is employed in the 1TV station, owned by Boki. The two would frequently be seen together in public, or through pictures posted by Boki.

According to the allegations detailed by state prosecutors Ljubomir Joveski and Vilma Ruskoska, Boki 13 extorted 1.5 million EUR from a businessman, while promising to get a prosecutor to drop or significantly reduce the charges against him. The businessman is widely reported to be Jordan Orce Kamcev, while the prosecutor as Katica Janeva.
