The Interior Ministry reported that six people are being investigated after the large police raid conducted yesterday evening near the village of Aracinovo, close to Skopje.
The raid was staged after four tons of marijuana were stolen from a farm at the south of the country. About half of the drugs were found in a warehouse near Aracinovo, which has a long standing reputation as a major center of criminal gangs, especially the regional Albanian mafia.
Some of the drugs were found, as well as other evidence linked to the crime. Some of the suspects are detained. We have a total of six suspects and have secured evidence against them, said Interior Ministry spokesman Toni Angelovski.
The Herb Industry company, that was robbed, operates out of Strumica, the main power-base of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, whose family and cronies are linked to the quickly developing marijuana sector in Macedonia.
