The new signboards with the Republic of North Macedonia, which were placed at the border crossings on Wednesday, are kept by the police 24 hours a day, because of the danger of being taken down, scratched or stolen for scrap metal, SDK.mk reported.

Officially, there are always patrolling police officers at the border crossings who are not there just for the signboards with the new name of the state, but also because the cross-border area must be controlled, because people cannot move freely there.

Unofficially, police officers are tasked with standing in front of the newly-installed signboards, because of the danger opponents of the new name of the state to do the same thing they did with the signboards with the “Friendship” highway.
